Puralytics Selected To The 2011 Global Cleantech 100
Award Recognizes the Top Private Companies in Clean Technology Industry
Puralytics, a developer of photochemical water purification products using light activated nanotechnology, recently announced it was named in the prestigious 2011 Global Cleantech 100, produced by Cleantech Group, a leading research firm focused on global cleantech innovation. The award further validates Puralytics' promising technology and its mission to deliver practical solutions to increase access to the world's supply of fresh, drinkable water.

The Global Cleantech 100 program – produced in collaboration with the UK's Guardian News and Media – is unique in the sector because it highlights the promise of private clean technology companies from all around the world, focusing on those companies which are most likely to make the most significant market impact over the next 5-10 years. This year, 4,274 companies were nominated from more than 45 countries. After a rigorous review from a 70-strong expert panel, 100 companies from 16 countries were ultimately recognized.
Puralytics has two products on the market: SolarBag and Shield 500. The SolarBag – which taps the power of sunlight and nanotechnology to treat contaminants in water – is a portable purification system that provides about 3 liters of pure drinking water in 2 to 4 hours of exposure on a clear or cloudy day. The SolarBag has been in use in a variety of countries and has drawn significant interest from human health organizations and NGOs. The Shield 500 – a complete, low-cost purification system – treats well water, industrial and laboratory water using LEDs, advanced optics and nanotechnology, treating up to 500 gallons of water per day.
The ability to remove all types of bacteria, chemicals and harmful pollutants from fresh water has earned Puralytics the recognition as a pioneer in the water purification industry. The company has also been recently recognized as the National Prize Winner in the 2010 Cleantech Open competition; the Global Water Intelligence's "Water Investment Idol" award at the American Water Summit in 2010; named a top 50 Water Technology company by the Artemis Project in 2011; twice named a finalist of the Imagine H2O award; honored as the "most fundable" by the Cleantech National Investor Conference; and selected by the Zino Green Forum as Best Cleantech Investment.
