Pentair Presents Breakthrough Helix Flux Enhancement Technology For Wastewater Treatment At WEFTEC 2016

Pentair

Pentair will present its advanced membrane technology at WEFTEC 2016 in the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans from September 26 – 28, 2016. At the world’s largest water quality exhibition, Pentair will showcase several breakthrough innovations for water and wastewater treatment.

At WEFTEC 2016, Pentair will focus on breakthrough innovations that create new opportunities in wastewater treatment. These include the Airlift and Crossflow MBR technologies with X-Flow membranes and Helix flux enhancement. Helix delivers higher performance with a smaller footprint and lower energy consumption in heavy-duty wastewater treatment applications.

Flux Enhancement with Helix
Pentair first presented the Helix flux enhancement technology at WEFTEC 2015 in Chicago, right after its market introduction. This year the company will showcase the promising results in numerous projects around the world. The highly innovative technology effectively resolves concentration polarization and prevents the buildup of solids into a cake layer at the membrane wall. This results in up to 100 percent more productivity and up to 50 percent less energy use, depending on the feedwater quality.

Helix addresses the major bottleneck in high-solids ultrafiltration (UF) by preventing the buildup of foulants. By introducing non-stop turbulence right at the membrane wall, Helix allows operators to avoid the progressive reduction of the membrane’s hydraulic permeability. Due to the continuous cleaning at low crossflow velocities, Helix significantly reduces the energy footprint compared to standard solutions. The X-Flow tubular UF membranes with Helix technology, available in 8” and 12” modules, are backwashable and have a reinforced support structure for extra ruggedness in demanding conditions.
