Palm Beach County Selects MWH Global To Support Implementation Of Utility Capital Improvement Plan

Water Utilities Department undertaking substantial renewal and replacement projects

MWH Global, the premier solutions provider focused on water and natural resources, recently announced it was awarded a contract by the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department to assist in delivery of its 2015 – 2020 capital improvement plan as owner’s advisor. The five-year, multi-million dollar consultant services agreement includes project planning, procurement support, engineering support and design management, construction management, project controls and permitting support.

The Water Utilities Department provides a reliable supply of quality drinking water to approximately 500,000 residents in the central and south central unincorporated areas of Palm Beach County. It also provides services to a number of municipalities and the Glades (Tri-Cities) within the County. It is the third largest water and wastewater utility in the state of Florida.

"Our five-year capital improvement program will help us renew and preserve investments we have made in water and wastewater infrastructure for our community and customer base," said Maurice Tobon, P.E., director of engineering, Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department. The County’s Water Utilities Department is transitioning from a growth utility to a sustainable utility and is proactively undertaking a major renewal and replacement program over the next five years to address its aging infrastructure. Projects to be undertaken as part of the capital improvement plan include both water and wastewater treatment facility improvements and rehabilitation of water, wastewater and reclaimed water conveyance assets.
