Membran-Filtrations-Technik (MFT) Introduces CD-140 Circular Disc Module For High Pressures Up To 140 Bar

CD 140 module

Expands Range of Circular Disc Module Technology; Ideal for Minimized Liquid Discharge Systems

Membran-Filtrations-Technik (MFT), a leading developer of membrane technologies, introduces CD-140 high pressure circular disc module that can accommodate pressures up to and including 140 bar.

The latest advancement in MFT’s circular disc module systems and plate and frame technology, CD-140 has been completely re-engineered with an extremely robust configuration to withstand the demands of higher pressure needed to treat difficult water with total dissolved solids (TDS) of up to 100.000ppm.

CD-140 is ideal for minimized liquid discharge systems with its ability to reduce the amount of concentrate without the need for an evaporator, thus reducing both OPEX and CAPEX.

“MFT is committed to ongoing innovation in membrane technology. We are known as a leader in circular disc module systems, and are continuing to advance development in this area,” said Andreas Flach, Dipl. Ing. Technical Director and CEO of MFT, an Aquarion Group company.

MFT’s CD modules feature a patented flow design that offers several advantages including optimized fluid characteristics and hydraulics, low pressure loss over the module, and excellent cleaning behavior. Inside the module, plates support and create an open channel to the membrane cushions. The surface of the support plate consists of flow segments producing a turbulence in the wastewater on one side. On the other side, their geometrical arrangement provides for a uniform fluid across the full area of the membrane cushion. O-rings insulate the permeate against the raw water.

Multiple support plates and membrane cushions are stacked alternately into a packet and the stack is put into a pressure vessel, which is connected by hoses to manifolds for raw water, reject water, and permeate. MFT’s CD module system can incorporate any standard dry membrane material providing that it can be thermally welded. The membrane cushions can easily be exchanged.

MFT’s CD module line also includes CD-70, designed for low pressures up to 70 bar which accommodates higher pressures up to 70 bar. Its circular disc modules can be used in such applications as seawater and brackish water desalination, process water recycling, wastewater treatment and water reuse.
