LiqTech International, Inc. Receives Order Using Its Silicon Carbide (SiC) Membranes For The Removal Of Heavy Metals From Power Plant Wastewater

Ballerup, Denmark /PRNewswire/ - LiqTech International, Inc. (NYSE MKT: LIQT) ("LiqTech") is pleased to announce that the company received a $200,000 SiC membrane order from a European customer to be delivered this year. The membranes will be installed at a German power plant to remove heavy metals from a flue gas cleaning process. LiqTech and the end-user have developed a solution around the SiC membranes that reduces the environmental impact from coal and biomass fired power plants.

Mr. Finn Helmer, LiqTech CEO, remarked, "We have developed a solution that reduces the annual load of toxic heavy metals being discharged into our environment. The solution is a great example of the benefits of SiC membranes compared to conventional technologies and competitor membrane products due to SiC membranes unique capability combining high filtration efficiency with extremely robust properties. Besides providing a cleaner environment, the solution represents a very clear business case with significant operating savings due reduced annual discharge costs. We believe this solution will reduce the overall environmental impact from coal fired power plants and we are currently targeting the most immediate markets. We expect to see more orders this year from this application."

"Germany is a leading country in renewable energy and emission controls. Current national regulation related to the discharge of power plant scrubber wastewater stipulates that operators have to apply the best available technology to reduce environmental impact as much as possible. We believe this regulation will be the start of a European initiative to reduce discharge of toxic heavy metals from power plants," Mr. Helmer concluded.
