Lawsuit Alleges Federal-Mogul Plant In Kentucky Released Toxic Chemicals Into Groundwater In Allen County

A Kentucky lawsuit filed by Hughes and Coleman Injury Lawyers alleges that Federal-Mogul released a known carcinogen into the environment surrounding one of its plants.

Bowling Green, KY (PRWEB) - Attorneys in Kentucky filed a lawsuit against Federal-Mogul Products Incorporated for damages allegedly caused by toxic chemical discharges from the company’s plant in Scottsville, Kentucky. Plaintiffs allege that Federal-Mogul Products Incorporated, a subsidiary of Federal-Mogul Corporation Inc., released carcinogens into the environment surrounding its plant that produced brake pads in Allen County, Kentucky.

“This complaint, brought by people who live near the Federal Mogul plant alleges the discharges from the plant contaminated the groundwater with the carcinogen TCE,” said Attorney Lee Coleman, a founding partner of Hughes and Coleman Law Firm.

Coleman leads the legal team that is accusing Federal-Mogul Products of groundwater contamination and environmental damage. Attorney Jeffery M. Sanders of The Law Offices of Jeffery M. Sanders and attorney Rick DiGiorgio of the law firm of Cory Watson Crowder & DeGaris are working with Coleman as advocates for plaintiffs allegedly injured by the pollution.

The complaint filed in Allen County alleges Federal-Mogul Products Incorporated released the carcinogen trichloroethylene (TCE) and 1, 2 dichloroethylene (DCE) into the environment surrounding the plant.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identified TCE as a carcinogen and a non-carcinogenic health hazard in the agency’s 2011 Toxicological Review of Trichloroethylene (4.11.2.1). Plaintiffs allege that the defendant’s testing recognized TCE and DCE concentrations that were 15-20 times above recommended levels. TCE is used as a metal degreaser in industrial settings.

The complaint, Docket #14-CI-00087 is filed in Allen County CIrcuit Court, Scottsville, Kentucky before Judge Janet Crocker.
