Latest Release Of Sedaru Software Simulates What-Ifs, Prepares Water Utilities For System Impacts

IDModeling, Inc. (IDM), a leading global provider of smart water network software and services, announced recently the spring release of its flagship network management software, Sedaru. This release brings modeling benefits to water utility professionals everywhere, featuring tools that calculate, map, and alert“ What Happens Next ”from anywhere, on any device.  This groundbreaking functionality will be automatically deployed to the hundreds of existing utility professionals across North America using Sedarū.

This latest Sedaru software release allows utility engineers and operators to better understand immediate and long-term risk, consequences of decisions, and impacts to system facilities and customers, while requiring little to no learning curve. Cloud-based, with very lightweight infrastructure and extremely minimal IT requirements (namely, an internet browser), Sedaru has been designed to provide easy-to-use, in-depth analytics to the masses. It’s simple to scale, and can be implemented, up and running within minutes.

“It’s all about providing water industry professionals with the tools to understand risk so they can be informed and prepared,” said IDModeling President and CEO Paul Hauffen. “With Sedaru, now anyone in any size utility can benefit from analytics quickly and easily, and communicate on that information to take action, in real-time. Field crews can know the impact of turning a valve before operating it, while engineering can prioritize asset rehabilitation and replacement using risk-based calculations to better plan capital investments.”

Sedaru’s configurable platform applies a robust, industry-standard algorithm to enable modeling and asset management principles. Now, all departments within the water utility – including management, engineering, operations, water quality, maintenance, and customer service – can apply their institutional knowledge with shared, analyzed data.

Sedaru connects the experience of people with the business systems that they run. For example, data from the utility’s work order system can be integrated and correlated with hydraulic performance, then compared against SCADA trends to validate and respond to a field event or perform a model calibration, in real-time. Data and alert conditions from the AMR/AMI system, including leaks and reverse flows, are sent to office staff for instant communication with field crews to investigate and respond to the issue.  The integration with GIS, CMMS, SCADA, LIMS, AMR/AMI, and the hydraulic model creates a connected, communicating decision support platform that allows every role in the utility to operate within, and contribute to, the “big picture”.

“More than ever,” Hauffen added, “utilities are challenged to be accountable – for their capital investments, for the actions they take, and for the impact their operations have on customers, finances, and the environment. Sedaru’s analytics and predictive capabilities deliver the tools to leverage the assets and information systems they already have in place, to make sense of all the data, to prepare for the future – and to make the right decisions, more proactively, for greater efficiency and profitability.”
