LANXESS Introduces New LEWABRANE And LEWAPLUS Products To North American Market At WEFTEC 2012
- LEWABRANE reverse osmosis membranes and LEWATIT ion exchange resins provide one-stop-shop for water treatment
- New LEWAPLUS planning software tool provides unique benefits
- LANXESS Sybron Chemicals, Inc. at Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition (WEFTEC) September 29 – October 3, booth 2006
As thought leaders from around the world gather to discuss the latest advances in water treatment, specialty chemicals company LANXESS, a global leader in water treatment technologies and tools, introduced two new products for the first time in North America that offer both innovative solutions for water treatment and planning and sustainable water management strategies. These products were showcased at the 85th Annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition (WEFTEC), the largest water quality exhibition in North America. The event was held in New Orleans from September 29 to October 3, 2012.
The new solutions consist of LEWABRANE reverse osmosis (RO) membrane elements, sold by LANXESS subsidiary, LANXESS Sybron Chemicals Inc., as well as a revolutionary software planning tool, LEWAPLUS. The products complement LANXESS’ established portfolio of LEWATIT ion exchange resins.
Both the LEWABRANE and LEWATIT product ranges offer the industry premium separation technologies for desalination and the production of high-quality water. The treatment processes work together, improving water quality to prolong the service life of machinery such as turbines and steam generators via protection against fouling, scale formation and corrosion.
LANXESS’ entrance into reverse osmosis membrane technology is an essential step forward in the field of water treatment and will help build critical infrastructure to address the mounting scarcity of clean water in North America. With the membrane technology, LANXESS will be able to provide its customers with premium products as a single-source supplier for both separation technologies, while reducing the overall cost of treated water.
“The WEFTEC conference represents a great educational opportunity for professionals in the water industry to collaborate and brainstorm new solutions in water treatment,” stated Firuza Mir, President and CEO of LANXESS Sybron Chemicals Inc. “Our new RO product line along with the LEWAPLUS software tool will create the most comprehensive approach to water treatment and planning and fills a gap in the industrial water planning and treatment market.”
Innovative Planning Tool Enables New Water Treatment Solutions
With the launch of the proprietary design software, LEWAPLUS, LANXESS will offer a continuum of services in the water planning and treatment industry. The software combines both technologies – ion exchange resins (IX) and reverse osmosis (RO) membrane technology – for industrial water treatment system design.
The LEWAPLUS tool allows for dimensioning of both technologies under a variety of system configurations and includes an integrated water analysis and scaling screen plus a unique single screen RO system configuration with option for calculation of a recommended array, allowing the customer to come up with the best water treatment solution for their project.
“It’s fitting that the theme of this year’s conference is ‘Exploration’ as LANXESS is committed to exploring new tools and technologies to preserve water quality,” stated Mir. “I think many people would be surprised that the availability of clean water in the U.S. isn’t an endless resource and it takes planning and investment. The LEWAPLUS tool allows planning professionals to explore the best water treatment solution based on facts and data.”
Both products will help with water preservation and sustainability efforts. Treating wastewater for re-use is an essential consideration, and LANXESS is contributing to this effort. LEWABRANE membranes, LEWATIT ion exchange resins and LEWPLUS planning software provide integrated water solution technologies that aid the creation of high-quality water.
