Request Information

Kruger Inc., a Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies company, was awarded a contract for the Fourth Creek WWTP Phase 1 project in Knoxville, Tennessee. Kruger will furnish a 2 x 9.6 MGD ACTIFLO® system to provide high rate clarification during wet weather events at the WWTP. It will later be converted to a BIOACTIFLO™ System by adding contact stabilization to the ACTIFLO® system.

The ACTIFLO® system will be utilized for wet weather treatment and the removal of TSS and BOD5. ACTIFLO® is a microsand ballasted clarification process that combines microsand enhanced floc formation and settling. This process was selected after pilot studies demonstrated successful performance for the Knoxville Utilities Board, including the following results:

Total BOD5: Effluent of <30 mg/L or 85% removal of the influent particulate BOD5
Total Suspended Solids: Effluent of <30 mg/L or 85% removal of the influent TSS

The new process is expected to be operational by summer of 2013.
