International Desalination Association Names Sao Paulo, Brazil As Site Of 2017 IDA World Congress

The International Desalination Association (IDA) announced recently it has selected São Paulo, Brazil as the site for its 2017 World Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse. The event will take place in the second half of 2017; specific dates and details about the venue are currently being finalized.

The announcement follows the conclusion of “Water Reuse and Desalination for Latin American Development,” IDA’s first and highly successful conference in Latin America, which was held in Rio de Janeiro in March.

“The award was made after a review by IDA’s Site Selection Committee of three final candidates – São Paulo, Brazil; Kuwait City, Kuwait; and Busan, South Korea – and subsequent vote by the IDA Board. Latin America is widely recognized as an important emerging market in desalination and water reuse. We look forward to a very successful event in 2017,” said Patricia A. Burke, Secretary General of the International Desalination Association.

Held every two years, the IDA World Congress is widely regarded as the premier event for the global desalination and water reuse community. It is attended by delegates from the public and private sector – world leaders in all sectors of the desalination and water reuse, typically representing more than 60 countries. Attendance at the 2013 IDA World Congress in Tianjin, China exceeded 2,000.

The 2015 IDA World Congress will take place in San Diego, California from August 31-September 4, featuring a robust four-day Technical Program, industry-leading Exhibition, awards program, plant tours and networking events throughout World Congress week.
