For public authorities, the future of the waste from water purification plants is becoming a matter of priority. The changes in the regulations, the demands of their citizens and concern for protecting the environment all lead to a search for a solution fulfilling these criteria.

Drying sludge consists of eliminating part of its water content so as to reduce its volume in order to facilitate its transport and recycling.

Drying sludge is a solution which incorporates the various objectives laid down by the 6th European Programme for the Environment:

Thermal drying is one of the several methods that can be used to treat wastewater sludge. The advantages of thermal drying are many:

  • Reduction in volume
  • Improvement of the quality of wastewater biosolids
  • Reduction of the overall control cost for the sludge, particularlythrough the reduction in storage, transport and incineration costs.
