In-Pipe Technology Awarded Contract For Green Sewer Collection System Treatment In Westchester County, NY
In-Pipe Technology awarded a contract to implement In-Pipe’s green sewer collection system treatment to reduce nitrogen discharge into the Long Island Sound from Westchester County’s Port Chester wastewater treatment plant.
Wheaton, IL - In-Pipe Technology® Company, Inc. announced today it has signed a contract for In-Pipe to provide professional, green sewer collection system services in the Port Chester NY collection system to improve nitrogen removal efficiency and reduce energy and sludge processing costs at Westchester County’s Port Chester 4.8 million gallons per day wastewater treatment plant. The objective of the 11 month project is to demonstrate In-Pipe’s ability to reduce the amount of nitrogen discharged into the Long Island Sound from the treatment plant without requiring capital investment to upgrade the facility. Westchester County is sponsoring this initiative as part of its overall commitment to reduce the total nitrogen discharged into the sensitive Sound. This work is a follow on project to previous work performed by In‑Pipe for the County in 2004.
John Williams, President & CEO of In-Pipe Technology stated, “After our previous demonstrations for effluent nitrogen reduction on Long Island, in Westchester County in 2004, and elsewhere throughout the Country, we look forward to this project which will confirm the potential to save millions of dollars in capital investment for nitrogen removal.”
In-Pipe’s patented technology includes regularly adding a high concentration formulation of facultative, naturally-occurring, non-pathogenic bacteria to strategic locations throughout the sewer system in accordance with an engineered plan. This entails zero capital cost and no additional energy requirement. Performance by In-Pipe bacteria in the collection system provides increased capacity within the plant, forestalls costly upgrades, and extends the life of the existing infrastructure.
In-Pipe Technology offers specialized technical expertise, strong customer understanding, and deep resource knowledge. Since In-Pipe uses natural, biological methods that complement the treatment plant’s own processes, In-Pipe is a sustainable solution − environmentally and economically.
