Greenville Water Awarded For Outstanding Plant Performance

"Presidents Award" honors Stovall Water Treatment Plant for achieving superior level of optimization

Greenville Water’s Stovall Water Treatment Plant received the rarely achieved Phase IV Presidents Award recognition from the Partnership for Safe Water.

The Partnership program is a national initiative developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the American Water Works Association and other water organizations representing water suppliers striving to provide their communities with drinking water quality that surpasses the required federal standards, through treatment plant and distribution system optimization. Phase IV goals are the highest possible level of performance that can be achieved in the four-phased program. The Presidents Award recognizes achieving Phase IV’s very stringent treatment plant filter performance goals for turbidity. Greenville Water has been participating in the Partnership for Safe Water treatment program since 2001.

Greenville Water owns and maintains over 26,000 acres of highly protected mountain watersheds in their natural pristine condition. As a result the quality of the water is very high. The Stovall Water Treatment Plant utilizes an innovative filtration/ treatment technique known as Dissolved Air Flotation to treat up to 75 million gallons of water per day.

The Partnership for Safe Water is a voluntary self-assessment and optimization program for water treatment plant and distribution system operation. More than 220 utility subscribers, collectively serving more than 85 million people, are committed to the Partnership’s goals of providing safe, high quality drinking water through operational excellence in water treatment.
