It is common knowledge that poultry and meat processing plants are known for high water consumption.

Poultry processing consumes between 3 to 10 gallons of water per bird. For turkeys the usage is even higher. The water is typically contaminated with protein and carbohydrates from meat, fat, blood, skin and feathers.
