Former Nyc Mayor Rudy Giuliani Lends Expertise To Homeserve USA

Mayor Giuliani to Help Raise Awareness of Water and Sewer Infrastructure Issues and Solutions

HomeServe, a leading provider of emergency repair service plans, recently announced its new association with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his team at Giuliani Partners to advise the company on enhancing awareness of the need for water and sewer infrastructure investment and consumer protection nationwide.

The country’s water and sewer infrastructure is an urgent problem for both homeowners and municipalities. The American Society of Civil Engineers gives our nation’s water and sewer infrastructure a grade of D- and reports that leaking pipes lose an estimated seven billion gallons of clean drinking water a day.[1] In addition, an estimated one million homeowners will suffer a water service line emergency and four million homeowners will have a sewer line disruption this year.[2] A break or back up can create an environmental and financial crisis for the homeowner.

“Many people are not aware they are responsible for the water and sewer lines that run from the street to their home. In many cases, when those lines break, the cost to repair them is often the responsibility of the homeowner.  Unfortunately, most people only find out they are responsible after the line has already broken and they are stuck with a repair bill that is not covered by their homeowners insurance or by their local utility,” said Mayor Giuliani.  He continued: “Giuliani Partners will work with HomeServe to educate homeowners on their responsibilities and ways they can mitigate their risk.”

As the former Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani was responsible, through the New York City Water Board, for the distribution of clean water to millions of residents in the five boroughs of New York, and one of the largest public water and sewer systems in the United States.  Today across the nation there are thousands of mayors who are also responsible for water and sewer systems for their constituents through over 50,000 community water systems.

“HomeServe is very excited to work with Mayor Giuliani and Giuliani Partners to dramatically expand awareness of homeowner infrastructure problems and the solutions we provide,” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA.  “We’re proud to offer protection that delivers 97% satisfaction for our customers and want to be the first place homeowners turn when they have an emergency.”
