Now there’s an access cover which not only meets tough O.S.H.A. confined space requirements, but also delivers long term, trouble-free service as well. Safe-Hatch access covers from Flygt provide optimum security and safety for working personnel, along with features to match virtually any application. They are the perfect choice when installed in either new or retrofit Flygt installations. Safe-Hatch is designed to O.S.H.A. standard 1910.23, for fallthrough protection and standard 1910.146 controlling confined space entry. The rugged aluminum secondary safety grate is rated to withstand a live load of 300 pounds per square foot and is locked separate from the main door, allowing limited access and safety for maintenance personnel. When opened, it creates a physical barrier to further protect workers.

Design Features:

  • Large 5” x 5” grate openings for easy visual inspection and level sensor adjustment.
  • Strong, rigid aluminum safety grate provides convenient platform for pump wash downs, with dirty water draining back into sump.
  • Unlike other safety “net” devices, outer door can’t be closed without first engaging safety grate. Handle positioned so operator is pulling away from pit when opening.
  • All hardware flush mounted and stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
