Finer Screenings Requires Headworks Innovation

Finer Screenings Requires Headworks Innovation

Over the past ten years, the trend in headworks has been to finer and finer screenings. As expensive to replace downstream processes are adopted, operators are looking to minimize fouling by screening out more trash. Examples of such processes would be membrane bioreactors (MBRs) and moving bed biofilm reactors (MBBRs), which are highly sensitive to trash.

In this Water Online Radio interview, Jesus Rodriguez, Business Development Manager with JWC Environmental, discusses an internally-fed drum screen product that can screen down to .2 microns and a new cutter design that shreds wipes along two or three axels rather than pushing through the machine.
