Filtration And Proper Contaminant Removal

Source: Shelco Filters

By Robert LeConche, President, Shelco Filters

Proper removal of organic and inorganic contaminants from water used in consumption or manufacturing is the crucial component of the intended outcome. For food and beverage applications, filtration affects taste and odor.  For chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, fuel, paints and many other industrial applications, filtration is essential to achieving desired quality and performance levels.

Since there are many filtration options available today that will work well for removal of organic and inorganic contaminants, it is important to consider the variables involved.  End-user variables include flow rates, process temperature, operating pressure, and material compatibility with the process. Filter variables include material, temperature limitations, chemical compatibility, filter lifespan, design, ability for multiple fittings, and housing types.
