  • PUB Singapore and Evoqua agree to MOU to further develop energy and cost-efficient electrochemical seawater desalination technology
  • Evoqua MEMCOR® modular membrane customer Orange County Water District receives prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize
  • Evoqua experts to make three oral presentations on low-energy electrodialysis desalination, dissolved air filtration and reactive iron treatment for metal contaminant removal

An agreement with the Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) to further develop electrochemical desalination technology, a customer winning the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize and three oral presentations highlight activities for Evoqua Water Technologies at Singapore International Water Week (SIWW).

Singapore’s national water agency PUB and Evoqua will sign a memorandum of understanding with Evoqua to further develop electrochemical desalination technology that aims to improve energy and cost efficiencies in seawater desalination. The MOU will be signed at the Singapore International Water Week Desalination and Water Reuse Business Forum at 2 p.m. June 4 in Basement 2, Expo Hall D.

Evoqua customer Orange County (California) Water District (OCWD) received the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize for its pioneering Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) which takes secondary treated wastewater formerly discharged into the ocean to now replenish the local aquifer and protect groundwater from seawater intrusion. The OCWD is expanding its use of Evoqua MEMCOR® CS membrane modules to eliminate suspended solids, bacteria and other harmful contaminants from the feed stream to deliver high quality effluent to the GWRS reverse osmosis system.

In addition to the MOU and customer award, Evoqua water and wastewater technical experts will present three oral sessions on the “Commercialization of Low-Energy Electrodialysis for Seawater Desalination,” the “Innovative Use of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) as Biosorption-Based Primary Treatments to Achieve Neutrality in Wastewater Treatment Plants” and “Innovative Iron Reactive Treatment for Removal of Metals and Metalloids from Water and Wastewater.”

Evoqua’s innovative electrochemical desalination technology and other water treatment technologies for municipal, industrial and marine applications will be exhibited at booth B2–R18.
