Downingtown, Pa., Regional Water Pollution Control Center Wins Award For Outstanding Safety Program
Operated and maintained by Severn Trent Services, the Downingtown, Pa., Regional Water Pollution Control Center (DRWPCC) was presented with the 2013 Plant Safety Award, Class II (nine or more employees) from the Eastern Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Operators Association (EPWPCOA) on 15 November 2013.
The award was presented to the Downingtown facility following an audit of its safety program by members of the EPWPCOA safety committee. The audit included documentation of training, compliance with OSHA regulations and lost time accidents. Leading up to the award, the DRWPCC worked 1,429 days without a lost time accident.
The DRWPCC is a 7.5-million-gallons-per-day tertiary wastewater system that serves residents in the Borough of Downingtown and neighboring townships. Severn Trent Services has operated and maintained the facility since 1999.
“This award signifies our commitment to a comprehensive safety program that benefits the employees of the DRWPCC, the Downingtown Area Regional Authority and the citizens of Downingtown,” said David Fink, area manager for Severn Trent Services. Prior EPWPCOA safety awards were presented to the DRWPCC in 2003 and 2006.
