Don't Wait: Detect Leaks In Real Time

Source: Mueller

We are a society with little patience. We want what we want when we want it, and not a moment later. That same mentality should be applied to water distribution networks, believes Matt Thomas, vice president of business development with Mueller Systems.

In this interview with Water Online Radio, Thomas shares why Mueller is committed to proving real-time information with their Mi. Net and Mi.Echo technologies. The Mi.Net infrastructure network is a fixed, two-way advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system which gives utilities the ability to remotely detect and monitor water distribution main leaks through automated leak detection. Mi.Echo is an enhancement on that network, designed to identify leaks with pinpoint accuracy by integrating acoustic-based leak detection from Echologics.

“What we're trying to do is provide a lot of information to utilities to make better decisions. We're making products that allow them to take action now, not just wait for a month or so before the information comes in, and then try to make changes,” says Thomas in the interview. “It actually comes right into your desktop. You're sitting there, and you know when there's a leak, you're going to know where it's at. There is something here that nobody else is doing.”
