Desalitech And Toyo Engineering Corporation Form Global Partnership To Introduce High Efficiency Water Treatment To Japanese And East Asian Markets
Massachusetts Governor Patrick Announces Strategic Alliance as Part of Massachusetts - Asia Innovation Partnership Mission
Desalitech, a provider of high-efficiency water production and wastewater treatment solutions and Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corporation announced the formation of a strategic partnership to introduce environmentally responsible and highly economical water and wastewater treatment solutions to Japanese, East Asian and international markets. The partnership agreement was signed in Tokyo, Japan as part of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s Massachusetts – Asia Innovation Partnership Mission.
Industry is putting water resources under tremendous strain worldwide, driving the need for highly efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective water supply and wastewater treatment solutions. The collaboration between Desalitech and Toyo will bring Closed Circuit Desalination (CCD) reverse osmosis (RO) solutions to East Asian and other international markets to increase water recovery, improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact and reduce disposal costs.
“Global water challenges increasingly impact our health, economy and quality of life,” said Nadav Efraty, CEO of Desalitech. “Desalitech’s CCD-RO solutions provide the highest performance and the greatest flexibility to treat challenging water sources reliably and economically. With our respected and capable partner, Toyo Engineering, we are working to make pure water safe, abundant and affordable for all.”
Desalitech water treatment solutions provide superior performance at lower costs, greatly reducing negative ecological impact, and improving the productive and responsible use of natural resources. Its patented CCD systems are able to achieve recovery rates of 93% or greater, compared to 75% recovery or less with most conventional RO systems. Higher recovery produces less waste, resulting in lower disposal costs. Desalitech CCD solutions require less energy than conventional RO water treatment systems, reducing carbon footprint. Furthermore, CCD systems are uniquely capable extracting purified water from challenging sources and adjusting to highly variable water conditions, making them ideal for industrial water and effluent treatment, agricultural water supply and inland brackish desalination.
“Our goal is to reduce our customer's water and energy footprint while increasing process reliability and flexibility,” said Toyo Senior Executive Officer Kumar Akhilesh, Infrastructure Business Unit Director. “This combination of better performance and greater environmental responsibility is important for Japanese and global markets.”
“We are in Japan because we know that if we want to sharpen our edge in the innovation economy, we must strengthen our existing relationships and build new ones,” said Governor Patrick. “The new venture between Desalitech and Toyo Engineering is a testament that our strategy is working and that Massachusetts is competing on the global playing field.”
Desalitech is a provider of high-recovery water production and effluent treatment solutions that deliver superior performance at lower costs. Its patented next-generation Closed-Circuit Desalination (CCD) solutions represent the first major improvement in reverse osmosis water treatment in decades, achieving more efficient use of water resources, reduced emission of brine waste, and lower power consumption using standard off-the shelf components. CCD systems are uniquely capable extracting purified water from challenging sources and adjusting to highly variable water conditions, making them ideal for industrial water and effluent treatment, agricultural water supply and inland brackish desalination. Desalitech was named to the prestigious 2013 Global Cleantech 100 for its innovations in the water sector.
