Water treatment plant (WTP) takes advantage of advanced vacuum feeders
At the city’s 1,200-MGD WTP, 15 percent hypo is fed at the main entry point to distribution shafts, at the rate of 1,000 to 1,200 GPD. Subsequent continuous monitoring of chlorine residual is conducted to assure an average level of 1.1 mg/L, and a range of 0.8-1.3 mg/L, per water quality department needs. Until last February, the hypo feed was provided by 10-year-old vacuum feeders.
