Chicago Walk For Water To Fund Safe Water System
Grundfos Invites Chicago Community to Sept. 22 event.
One in every eight people – 884 million worldwide – lacks access to safe water. Because of this, 1.8 million children die each year from diseases caused by unclean water and poor sanitation.
As a global leader in advanced pump solutions and a trendsetter in water technology, Grundfospresents an opportunity to change that. In partnership with Water Missions International, Grundfos invites the Chicago Community to participate in a Walk for Water that will raise awareness of the global water crisis. The event will take place on at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Grundfos Chicago facility, 3905 Enterprise Ct, Aurora, IL, 60504.
The Walk for Water is a non-competitive, educational event that puts participants in the shoes of those who walk almost four miles per day to provide their families with what is often contaminated water. Halfway through our 3.5-mile walk, participants will fill buckets with water, simulating the true burden of life in a developing nation.
Visit GrundfosChicagoWalk.kintera.org/2012 to register. Individual adult registration is $25, youth registration is $15 and children 10 and under are free. A light lunch will provided for those who pre-register; however, onsite registration will also be available at 8 a.m. on June 16.
The goal of the event is to raise funds for safe water systems in villages without access to clean water. Participants can help achieve this goal by registering to walk. The help of the community is vital to providing sustainable access to safe water in developing countries.
INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: Grundfos staff and Walk for Water committee members are available for television and radio appearances. To schedule an interview or photo opportunity, please contact Helen Mubarak, communications officer for Grundfos, at 913-302-3702 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
