CH2M's Jim Lozier Named 2016 Water Quality Person Of The Year

CH2M recently announced that Jim Lozier was named the 2016 Water Quality Person of the Year by the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA).

Mr. Lozier joined CH2M in 1989 and currently works as the Global Technology Lead for Desalination, in the firm’s Phoenix, Arizona, office. Throughout his 34-year career, he has worked on numerous game changing projects, including serving as the lead process engineer for the Beenyup Advanced Water Recycling Plant in Western Australia, a project that involves constructing an advanced wastewater recycling plant capable of producing water that is suitable for replenishing groundwater, and the reverse osmosis (RO) pilot program for the Reedy Creek Improvement District’s Energy Services group, which pioneered the use of microfiltration for RO pretreatment on wastewater effluent and made potable reuse more affordable. The latter project was a key milestone in CH2M’s 50-year journey of implementing global water reuse and helped the firm earn the 2015 Stockholm Industry Water Award.

“Being named the 2016 Water Quality Person of the Year is a tremendous accomplishment, and one that we are extremely proud to see designated upon CH2M’s Jim Lozier,” said Peter Nicol, Global Water Business Group President. “Jim has made considerable contributions to water supply improvement and the advancement of desalination and membrane technologies throughout his career, and we are honored to see him accept this award.”

Mr. Lozier was presented with the award during the 6th annual AMTA-AWWA Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition, held in San Antonio, Texas. An internationally recognized authority on membrane technologies for potable water treatment, desalination and water reuse, he has studied, designed and implemented a wide variety of membrane and desalination technologies for clients throughout the United States and the world. Mr. Lozier received his Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona and his Bachelor’s in Biology from State University of New York.
