Cashco Releases PTR-1 Regulator

There’s a lot more to the new PTR-1 from Cashco Inc. than an identity based product designation. Formerly known as the T1 valve when the product was acquired with the acquisition of Kaye MacDonald in 1999, the PTR-1, which stands for Pressure Temperature Regulator, now comes with all of the information a customer needs to match the regulator to the application. That includes a technical bulletin, an IOM (installation, operation and maintenance) manual, and assembly drawings for all line sizes and item numbers.

“From the time of its acquisition until it was recently renamed and enhanced with new technology, the only documentation for the T1 was an old schematic showing how the tubing and fittings were to be installed,” explains Clint Rogers, General Manager, Valve Division, Cashco, Inc. “A customer would have had to pick up the product technical bulletin, work his way through its product coder and then work through a separate product coder for the correct bill of materials for the hookup. We’ve now simplified that whole procedure, while enhancing the product itself.”

As Rogers explains, the PTR-1 is similar to the recently introduced ULR-1. However, in addition to the CA1 mounted on a DA4 pressure reducing regulator, customers also purchases a Model 135 Low Temperature Probe, which is inserted into the lines they want to control. If the pressure in the line gets too cold, the probe will open and bleed the gas out of the cover dome of the DA4, thus shutting the DA4 off and protecting the downstream apparatus.

“While these new products are not new in regards to the Manufacturing and Assembly departments, the new technical bulletins, manuals and drawings will make application and installation easier for everyone,” Rogers concludes. “We always knew what we had, but, until now, it was always somewhat of a mystery to the customer.”
