BlueInGreen Joins Imagine A Day Without Water Campaign

Water treatment company partners with the Value of Water Coalition to raise awareness for nation’s aging infrastructure

Fayetteville, AR (PRWEB) - Today, water treatment company BlueInGreen joined elected officials, community leaders, advocacy organizations and infrastructure experts across the country by participating in Imagine a Day Without Water, an annual event aiming to educate the public about the current U.S. water infrastructure crisis.

Organized by the Value of Water Coalition, hundreds of organizations across the country will participate in events today in hopes of raising awareness about the crucial need for investment to ensure no community in America is left without water and the infrastructure that brings it to and from homes and businesses.

“At BlueInGreen, water is at the core of everything we do,” said CEO Chris Milligan. “Our company is constantly working to improve and maintain water quality, and updating our nation’s aging infrastructure is an essential part of that mission.”

Founded in 2004, BlueInGreen provides solutions for aeration, pH adjustment, oxidation and odor control to lower treatment costs and improve water quality. BlueInGreen injects dissolved oxygen, carbon dioxide or ozone into a small sidestream, providing highly efficient water treatment.

With municipal, industrial and ecological installations in the U.S. and Canada, BlueInGreen designs its dissolution systems to provide the smallest carbon footprint possible. Utilizing variable frequency drives and automated treatment modes, these solutions offer the lowest cost of ownership on the market by using less power, reducing the use of chemicals and improving water quality at a fraction of the cost.

BlueInGreen’s innovative technology also delivers results naturally with oxygen, carbon dioxide and ozone, rather than potentially hazardous chemicals. This eliminates the handling and storage of dangerous substances, simultaneously protecting the nation’s water supply as well as its water treatment operators.

“We're thrilled that BlueInGreen is joining Imagine a Day Without Water,” said Radhika Fox, CEO of the U.S. Water Alliance and Director of the Value of Water Coalition. “Most people can take for granted that when they turn on the tap or flush the toilet, water systems function exactly as they are supposed to. But the systems that provide critical water and wastewater services are aging, and we need to take action before it gets worse.”

While more attention is typically given to visible public utilities, like roads, bridges and tunnels, the country’s hidden infrastructure is more expansive than the entire U.S. interstate system combined. National Geographic estimates the nation’s 1.2 million miles of water mains roughly translates to 26 miles of piping for every mile of interstate highway. Although the interstate system was built in the late 20th century, many of the country’s largest cities rely on water systems built in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

Now, countless systems are showing the effects of a century’s worth of nonstop usage, with a water main breaking somewhere in America every two minutes. Recently, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) gave the country’s current drinking water and wastewater infrastructure a grade of “D.” Without further investments, these systems will only experience more frequent failures in the future.

While companies like BlueInGreen strive to update the nation’s water treatment systems with modern technology, increased functionality and industry-leading efficiency, there are numerous ways to help promote infrastructure awareness on both local and national levels.
