FITT for the purpose intended, Bio-Microbics new crop of technologies transform wastewater and stormwater treatment.

Bio-Microbics, Inc., a global leader in decentralized wastewater treatment systems and other water, stormwater, and filtration devices, showcased its latest Filtered Integrated Treatment Technology for rainwater off impervious surfaces, the d-Rain Joint(™) and the new extended aeration system, the RollsAIR(R), at the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition & Conference (WEFTEC) held Sept 28th - 30th, 2015 in Chicago, IL USA.

At WEFTEC, most conversations were directed to the d-Rain Joint display unit in the Bio-Microbics booth that showed a simulated rainfall on a sloped surface and the Linear Rainwater Filtration Device installed where an expansion joint would be. The device captures two gallons [7.5 liters] per minute per linear foot and available in 8’ [2.4 M] increments for residential driveways, public walkways, large outdoor commercial patios and hardscapes, etc.

As a simple, green and Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) for hard surfaces, the d-Rain Joint™ is an alternative low-cost option compared to other permeable, pervious surface choices. The d-Rain Joint provides onsite storm water management wherever a permeable, pervious drain is needed. Innovative site designs that use smaller-scale low impact development practices dispersed throughout an impervious site are excellent ways to achieve the goals of reducing flows and improving water quality, while recharging local groundwater sources. This type of new stormwater management technology filters the rainwater before it gets polluted and end up in the municipal storm sewer system.

“It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the attendees at WEFTEC, and the people visiting our booth were generally enthused and impressed with d-Rain Joint,” said Bob Rebori, President of Bio-Microbics, Inc. “Since acquiring the product in May, this clever rain filtering drain joint has been shown in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, and now the United States.”

Bio-Microbics is best known for manufacturing advanced on-site Wastewater Treatment Systems for residential and commercial applications that require simple, low cost, robust treatment solutions for environmental benefits, upgrading conventional septic, reducing leachfields, reducing the levels of Nitrogen, and water reuse opportunities. With appropriate treatment processes, which help minimize the risks to public health and the environment, Bio-Microbics’ new crop of technologies transform wastewater and stormwater markets and applications. These successful, proven systems dramatically simplify the water treatment process and scale easily to serve the hordes of small to large properties and facilities in the market.

With the progress of onsite technologies, decentralized systems have come a long way from the days of rudimentary systems for single family homes and can now accommodate larger flows and much more complex requirements, according to Rebori, during a Water Online Radio (www.wateronline.com) interview conducted on the last day of WEFTEC. In addition, those properties that experience biologically-failed septic systems rarely have options to replacing an entire system (an expensive endeavor for low-income housing); Bio-Microbics developed the S.O.S.-Save Our Septic(R) Warranty Program for upgrading a Homeowner’s existing septic tank.

WEFTEC®, the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference, is the largest conference of its kind in North America and offers water quality professionals from around the world with the best water quality education and training available today. Also recognized as the largest annual water quality exhibition in the world, the expansive show floor provides unparalleled access to the most cutting-edge technologies in the field; serves as a forum for domestic and international business opportunities; and promotes invaluable peer-to-peer networking between thousands of Exhibitors and tens of thousands of attendees.
