Alternative Wastewater Treatment Option Suitable for Sustainable Practices

Merryvale Starmont chose to investigate alternate wastewater treatment equipment options to better fit with the company’s dedication to sustainable practices. The old turbine style surface aerators were replaced with UltraFine Bubble aerators, reducing the total horsepower from 37.5 down to 8. An automatic DO control system was also installed to increase energy conservation. The reduction in horsepower allowed the facility to claim over $13,000 in PG&E rebates in addition to the savings being realized by the more energy efficient motors.

The effluent water quality is such that the facility is able to reclaim 100% of their process wastewater to irrigate the vineyards and landscape.
