New sizes and designs of the Aerzen blower units

Delta Blower Generation 5 stands for the new series of blower units made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH, introduced for the first time in May last year and already now set a new standard on the market. The innovative series up to now with 9 sizes was available for overpressure applications up to 1000 mbar in nominal widths DN 80 up to DN 200 and intake volume flows of approx. 60 m³/h up to 3.600 m³/h. With the new machine type GM 3S-G5 in nominal width DN 50 the blower units now get an addition in the lower volume flow range. It covers intake volume flows from 30 m³/h up to 250 m³/h at max. overpressures of up to 900 mbar. As motor ratings 3 kW, 5,5 kW or max. 7,5 kW can be installed.

For the special requirements in the suction-pneumatic conveyance of bulk material furthermore the new Delta Blower units Generation 5 as vacuum design with pressures of up to minus 500 mbar were developed. The negative pressure series includes all in all 10 blower sizes with intake volume flows from 30 m³/h up to 3.600 m³/h in nominal widths DN 50 up to DN 200. Same as with the already introduced overpressure series with the negative pressure design five main advantages for the customers are in the focus. Five main advantages that led to the name “Generation 5”.

Compared with the previous generation the sound levels of the new series have been reduced considerably, on average by 6 - 8 dB(A), in some cases even more. Special attention was given to the interfering blow-off noise. For the first time an integrated silencer (DN 80, DN 100, DN 125) was developed. The total machine noise incl. blow-off noise when blowing-off freely can thus be reduced to less than 80 dB (A). Thanks to the considerable sound reductions, costly special measures (such as e.g. special acoustic hoods) are in most cases no longer needed.

During development of the new units, special consideration has been given to the ease of handling of the machines. The units are being operated from the front. All components requiring maintenance are easily accessible from the operating side (front). There is also additional access from the rear of the unit.

One of the most important advantages is the new oil system. The oil level can be viewed and checked from the outside of the unit while it is still in operation without any problems. Therefore, blower shutdowns, process and production interruptions belong to the past. Only concerning the smallest size in nominal width DN 50 service can easily be carried out due to the low height from the top through a detachable roof element.

A further distinct advantage for the end user is the ATEX-solutions of the new Generation 5 blower units made by Aerzener. These blower units for suction- and pressure operation are especially designed as per European machine directive 94/9/EG for requirements in categories 2 and 3 for dust- as well as for gas zones. They also consider an explosion protection for units as per ATEX-directive 137 (1999/9/29EG). In suction-operation in case of a malfunction in the separation filter (e.g. filter damage) it has to be made sure, that no combustible dust-air mixture is sucked into the blower. For this reason, as a rule the plant manufacturer has to provide an additional filter element (“emergency filter”). This means additional expenditure for projecting, assembly and installation.

Therefore Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH developed a puncture-proof filter element, integrated in the suction silencer. This filter is monitored by a differential pressure measurement. The special filter element made by Aerzener thus replaces the emergency filter which had been necessary in addition up to now.

The ventilation of an Aerzen acoustic hood takes place via a mechanical fan being installed on the blower shaft. Additional absorbed power and electrical installation costs can be avoided. Additional advantages offer the Aerzen ventilation system with ATEX designs. By means of the mechanical process it is not necessary to install any ex-proof motors for the fan, saving a considerable amount of cost.

Furthermore the new units have been constructed with space saving in mind. The smaller sizes have had their dimensions considerably reduced. In addition, the installation option “Side-by-Side” is available. The reduction of space can therefore lead to savings with smaller installation areas or blower rooms.

Further advantages for the Delta Blower Generation 5 result from the use of the blower stage according to the Aerzen patent of integrated pulsation reduction, the certification of the base support as per PED guidelines and the standard use of energy efficient EFF1 motors.

The intake silencer filter is positioned to draw intake air from the coolest point within the unit – and not on the side of the pressure pipe with accordingly high temperatures. This guarantees optimal ventilation of the unit even at critical ambient temperatures and thus contributes considerably to the operating safety.

With this individual and innovative concept of the new series Delta Blower Generation 5 Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH has reached a development goal that is already translating the future market requirements.
