To take control of our water quality, we first need to know what's in our water. Having portable testing devices to measure important water quality parameters in the field empowers water treatment professionals with improved water quality understanding, enabling them to take more immediate and effective action.

Unfortunately, many water treatment professionals have only a limited ability to test water quality parameters in the field. However, with improved technology advances, water quality tests once only able to be performed through costly and lengthy lab analysis can now be measured onsite in the field in just a couple of minutes.

One important aspect of water quality is organics. Organics can be tested very effectively through use of the UV254 test parameter, also known as UV transmittance (UVT) or Spectral Absorbance Coefficient (SAC). This test utilizes UV light at the 254nm wavelength to penetrate through a sample of water. Since most dissolved organic compounds absorb light at this wavelength, it provides a valuable indication of the organics in the water.
