Richmond, VA – Infilco Degremont and subsidiary Anderson Water Systems, a leading industrial water treatment specialist, have been awarded a $1.8 million contract by Black & Veatch to design and install a water pretreatment system for the new 500 MW supercritical pulverized coal Weston 4 Generating Station at Wisconsin Public Service. The heart of the design for this cutting-edge facility is Degremont's patented DensaDeg® clarifier/thickener—yet another example of the DensaDeg's demand and versatility when applied to electrical generating stations.
"Our team's outstanding due diligence in preparing such a comprehensive and competitive design in a short procurement period demonstrates the depth of their experience and attention to detail," said Marc Hauchecorne, CEO of Infilco Degremont. "The exacting performance needs of Wisconsin Public Service were a perfect match for our combined scope of equipment and system design," added Michael Durling, CEO of Anderson Water Systems.
Infilco Degremont's DensaDeg Clarifier equally excels in FGD wastewater treatment, with more installations in the U.S. and the world than any other single design. Its capability for removal of organics, suspended solids, and heavy metals—combined with the newly issued EPA and state rulings for severe reductions in SO2 and mercury emissions—provides the electric utility industry a proven tool to meet stringent FGD wastewater effluent requirements resulting from these rulings.
The synergistic corporate relationship between Infilco Degremont and Anderson Water Systems provides utility customers advanced design and design-build capabilities. Both companies are backed by patented specialized equipment and strong R&D. The Weston 4 project is expected to start up in late 2005.
Infilco Degremont and Anderson Water Systems are part of the worldwide Degremont group. Degremont employs over 3,200 people in over 70 countries and is part of SUEZ Environment, the premier environmental specialist in advanced water and waste services. SUEZ is an international multi-utility provider (NYSE symbol SZE) that employs over 190,000 people and had sales in excess of $38 billion in 2002.
