Franklin, GA - Tertiary Filter Case Study

Source: WesTech Engineering, Inc.

A new wastewater treatment plant with an average daily flow (ADF) of 0.25 MGD was constructed in 2010 for the Heard County Water Authority to replace its existing plant.

In order for this facility to meet the county’s growing needs, the new facility had to meet several criteria:

  • Deliver high quality effluent.
  • Be simple to operate and maintain.
  • Be as energy efficient as possible.

The new facility consists of headworks, STM biological treatment, clarifiers, the WWETCO FlexFilter™, UV disinfection and post aeration. The WWETCO FlexFilter™ was selected based upon the competitive bidding against a disc filter option.
