5 'Can't Miss' Opportunities At WEFTEC
In a good sign for the wastewater industry, the upcoming Water Environment Federation Conference Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) will be the biggest in its 85-year history — weak economy be damned. Set for Oct. 1 to 3 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center, the event features a nearly 300,000-square-foot show floor with 969 exhibitors and an estimated 18,500 attendees. If you’re among them, Jeff Eger, the executive director of the Water Environment Federation, says there are five opportunities you simply shouldn’t miss.
Q-SEP Ultrafiltration (UF) Membranes Our NSF certified Q-SEP ultrafiltration membranes are manufactured by the patented 'cloud point precipitation process' which incorporates high-strength hollow fibers with uniform pore size distribution, and it delivers superior performance. The Q-SEP ultrafiltration membranes are made from a hydrophilic polyether sulfone (PES) material with excellent low fouling characteristics.

Pump Replacement By The Numbers By Steve London, Xylem Inc.
Andy Myracle knows how to make a strong case for facility upgrades to his senior management. As plant maintenance superintendent for Jackson Energy Authority, Myracle had watched aging — and high-maintenance — pumps in one of the utility’s lift stations demand ever-increasing man hours for outages, even after stepped-up proactive maintenance inspections.

The Perfect Lab Partner For Compliance By Jeanne Mensingh and Colin Thurston, Thermo Fisher Scientific
For water testing facilities dealing with testing, reporting, and regulatory compliance issues, a laboratory information management system (LIMS) becomes a critical tool.

Franklin Miller's grinders, screens, comminutors, and septage stations enhance plant processes and protect pumps and systems. With equipment operating in open-channel, inline, and gravity applications, Franklin Miller significantly improves plant operations worldwide.
Chesterton, the world leader in split seal technology, has the largest installed base globally. Our broad experience in split sealing enables a wide array of uses to improve plant efficiencies. Today, with years of proven performance, Chesterton split seals are used in more types of equipment, sealing more types of process materials.
The Aqua UltraFiltration Membrane System offers a compact, T-rack design, zero break fibers, and no air scouring! The multibore fibers are made of polyethersulphone (PES) with seven capillaries per fiber for superior strength.
At Delta Screens we know the water and wastewater treatment industry and understand the role our screening products play in the process. We have a thorough understanding of coarse solids removal, media retention, and solids dewatering applications.
Zenith Series ozone systems have been designed for larger municipal, commercial, and industrial applications that require ozone to be delivered without deviation to set point or stoppage. The Zenith system features QuadBlock modularity (20 lbs. of ozone per day/block) with up to ten QuadBlocks installed per rack and up to three racks per system (30 QuadBlocks in total). Zenith systems include spare QuadBlocks redundancy without the requirement of a separate ozone system.

Water Online The Magazine, Wastewater Edition 2012
The wastewater industry is besieged by “old” problems — not only traditional, age-old problems, but also old-age problems. To combat these issues, we decided in the 2012 wastewater edition of Water Online The Magazine to look at them from a new angle — to embrace wastewater treatment techniques that are smarter and more efficient than their predecessors.
