xpswmm Stormwater Management Model Tool Receives NSF International Certification

Rigorous testing of xpswmm by NSF International and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certifies XP-SWMM for the Simulation of Storm and Wastewater Management.

NSF International's Water Quality Protection Center, in cooperation with EPA, has evaluated the performance of xpswmm on behalf of the EPA's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. Created by the US EPA, the ETV program furthers the development of environmental technologies through intensive performance testing and verification. The ETV certification offers peer-reviewed information on performance and options of available cost-effective technologies. xpswmm is the first stormwater or wastewater program to receive certification under this program.

Testing of the xpswmm software was conducted from May through July 2002 in real world conditions by Crawford Engineering Associates (CEA). "xpswmm has really helped with the sheer speed of analyzing systems and models. What's really exciting is that the cost of modeling has probably dropped ten times in labor and time alone. Our work can be completed a hundred times faster than even ten years ago" says CEA President David Crawford, P.E., of his company's experience.
