Cape Coral is located in western Lee County on a peninsula bounded on three sides by waters of the Calloosahatchee River and Matlacha Pass.
The City of Cape Coral proposed to raise the crest elevations of five of the weirs in the canal system to create additional storage availability for wet season storage and dry season draw-downs. The following outline summarizes the project's highlights:
The Solution:
Develop a Storm Water Management Model using XP-SWMM to simulate a scenario of one-foot higher elevation for selected weirs.
Compare simulated water levels to the water elevations of other existing structures to determine whether the elevated weirs cause any additional flooding.
