Siemens Introduces The Ionpure 600VDC G2 Power Controller For Continuous Electrodeionization Modules
October 25, 2011
Siemens Industry Automation Division announces a new power controller and display package for users of its Ionpure continuous electrodeionization (CEDI) water purification modules. The Ionpure G2 controller is an advanced, solid state rectifier, which delivers increased reliability and module control versatility while reducing the cost and complexity of system integration. The controller is available worldwide, for use in applications including power generation, microelectronics and pharmaceuticals.
The new Ionpure G2 package comprises a power controller and a digital display to fully exploit the performance monitoring outputs. It is capable of running up to 16 separate G2 power controllers. Ionpure product users can now easily monitor module power information. As a result, module resistance changes are more easily detected, cueing maintenance activities, such as cleaning. Other key CEDI parameters include readily accessible input AC and output DC current and voltage.
Compatible with all Ionpure MX, LX and VNX modules, the G2 controller supersedes a total of six individual single phase and three-phase controllers. This versatility simplifies system design and inventory requirements. A series of features adds to the reliability of the G2 controller and CEDI modules. Soft start technology ramps up voltage rather than subjecting the circuitry to a sudden fully-on condition, extending electrical component life. Automatic shutdown protects the power stage from damage to the rectifier caused by voltage excursions, or excessive temperature.
G2 also introduces a number of benefits for system integration. Multiple G2 controllers can operate from a single transformer secondary, simplifying the system installation. Standard RJ45 connections and Modbus digital communications can also be utilized enabling simplified cables and direct PLC integration. The G2 controller and display package makes its exhibition debut at Aquatech Amsterdam in early November.
