Reliant Water Technologies Introduces A Complete Waste Lagoon Rehabilitation Program At WEFTEC '11 In LA, Booth #4944

September 22, 2011

Reliant Water Technologies has developed an aerator/sludge digestant package for old wastewater lagoons that have become filled with undigested sludge. These overfilled lagoons are a common occurrence for industrial and rural municipal wastewater plants. During the design process of the waste lagoons the incorrect aerator, often with extremely high energy requirements, were specified. Consequently, over the years the sludge held in the primary/aeration lagoons built up, and it was seldom due to increased populations. The aeration specifications of the lagoon just did not take into consideration the ability of waste sludge to build up in the "wash zones" of the aerators. Thus, now, years later these lagoons are overfilled with undigested sludge, which eventually leads to other major problems for the lagoon system.

The new Reliant "Waste Lagoon Rehabilitation System" is made up of two components. First, there is a specially designed and patented aerator that moves all the sludge in the lagoon, slowly, so that the waste ammonia/nitrogen gases can oxidize in the water column. This sludge movement is continuous until all the sludge is naturally digested - and the full energy requirement is only 4 HP per aerator. For those lagoons that are already overloaded to the point that dredging or vacuuming is being considered, Reliant offers a patented polymicrobial bacteria called Sewper Rx that will assist the natural bacteria in the breakdown of large amounts of sludge. Typically, lagoons that are treated with Sewper Rx become odor free and show no signs of sludge buildup within a few months of the first inoculation.

Reliant Water Technologies is located at 141 Robert E. Lee Blvd. - #284, New Orleans, LA 70124.
