Application Note: Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids In Wastewater
Industrial Wastewater is water generated from industrial facilities. Some Industrial facilities are NPDES permit holders who process their waste and discharge it directly. Other industrial facilities partially treat their waste prior to discharging it to a municipal wastewater facility.
Organic Industrial Wastes can increase BOD and TSS levels, placing a higher load on the downstream municipal wastewater plant. In addition to changing the organic load on a plant, Industrial dischargers may also introduce toxic materials, grease, and oils that can inhibit the biological treatment process.
