Process Consultations
Every project starts with a customer need, and understanding your need is APTwater's highest priority. The most common starting point is a preliminary engineering analysis that identifies the conditions and objectives of your project. From the information we collect our team develops an engineered solution and a set of recommendations to achieve your goals.
Bench Testing
APTwater regularly conducts process bench testing to validate the performance of our process technologies for a specific site or application. In conducting a laboratory bench test, we collect site-specific chemical and physical data to profile the water source. Test parameters may include chemical and biological oxygen demand, pH, hardness, dissolved oxygen, and alkalinity, among others. We also subject samples to simplified, bench-level treatment schemes in our corporate headquarter's treatability lab to collect information for treatment design, equipment sizing, and consumables demand. A 5-10 gallon water sample is usually sufficient for testing purposes. Chemical analyses are performed by an external laboratory. Bench test reports are prepared that define the scope of the analysis, test results, and full-scale design implications.
A bench test consists of a series of individual tests performed at different oxidant dosing conditions. The resulting data is used to produce a ‘destruction curve' that is specific to the contaminant concentrations and water quality conditions of your site. This ‘chemical fingerprint' of your site is then the basis for our engineering design effort. The result is a process design with a
Pilot/Field Testing
APTwater, Inc. maintains a fleet of mobile process equipment that can be rapidly deployed to a potential project for the purposes of evaluating actual operating conditions and demonstrating system performance. Because our process technologies are highly scalable, the field test results obtained at a 5-10 gpm pilot study can directly predict a full-scale system design. Depending on the site condition and project objectives, field pilot testing usually range from 1 week to 3 months. Throughout this process our engineering and pilot testing staff will work collaboratively with you to keep you aware of results and help build your familiarity with our process technologies.
At the completion of each study, APTwater issues a written test report that defines test objectives, methodology, analytical results, and resulting treatment system design ramifications, including a projection of power demand, consumables, capital requirements, and operating costs.
The decision to perform a laboratory bench test and/or pilot test is determined on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the customer. Some factors that impact the decision include the contaminant profile, anticipated discharge limitations, schedule and budget constraints, and risk acceptance/distribution.
Engineering Design & Project Management
Detailed engineering design and professional project management are keys to the success of every project. APTwater is pleased to offer these professional services to clients with complex regulatory issues, unique requirements, or special design/execution issues. Engineering & Project Management services are offered on a project-specific basis to meet your needs and goals. We can also assist with pre-construction permitting and agency review.
Project Financing & Leasing
Efficient use of capital is among the most important considerations for any business or organization. APTwater maintains strong relationships with a number of partner firms that can offer lease or financing or operating for most any project. Our team can also help structure the financing arrangement to include long-term operations and maintenance in any number of design-build-own-operate-maintain (DBOOM) scenarios to meet your needs.
Operations & Service Contracts
APTwater works with customers to find the service and support program that's right for them. Available service levels range from service calls on an as-needed time and materials basis to full operating and maintenance responsibility for an entire treatment process. The most common service scenario involves an established preventive maintenance schedule for the APTwater treatment unit, supplemented by as-needed site support. Other service options include consumables purchasing management and remote SCADA monitoring.
Regardless of your situation, APTwater's field personnel can get the job done right, tailored to meet your needs. We establish and track our performance against metrics for system up-time and call response times. Our technical experts are available to answer questions and discuss your needs. We understand the importance of customer water treatment projects and want to be there to help.
Performance Optimization
Environmental, physical, and financial conditions often change over the life of a project, each affecting the operating conditions of our process systems. APTwater is pleased to assist its past and current customers with the expertise and in-depth know-how needed to optimize system performance to meet current or future needs. The optimization process starts with a detailed engineering review of the project objectives and extends through either report preparation or field implementation.
Installation & Startup
APTwater routinely provides equipment installation and start-up services with most of its projects. Start-up support involves a series of pre-start tests, system initialization using non-contaminated water and, finally, introduction of contaminated feed water. Formal acceptance tests are also conducted required by each customer and project. All systems come with a complete set of operating manuals. Operator training can also be arranged if systems are operated by non-APTwater staff.
