ARoNite Nitrate Removal Biological Treatment Process
ARoNite Overview
ARoNite is a biological treatment process for the removal of nitrates and other oxidized contaminants from impaired water supply. ARoNite is the first commercially available process to use autotrophic hydrogen-based fixed-film biology to chemically reduce and eliminate contaminants. By eliminating brine streams and other waste residuals, ARoNite systems save money in the form of reduced energy and operating costs.
ARoNite's fixed-film biomass consumes inorganic carbon from alkalinity, phosphorus, and other trace nutrients directly from the influent stream to build cell mass. Nitrate from the influent stream is then reduced using hydrogen gas as an electron donor in the respiration process to produce harmless nitrogen gas and clean water. Over time, cell mass leaves the media and is discarded from the downstream filtration process. The end result is a biological process that directly consumes nitrate, inorganic carbon and hydrogen without producing waste.
