Kruger Inc., a Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies company, combines the benefits of ballasted clarification with the adsorption capacities of powdered activated carbon (PAC) with ACTIFLO® CARB. The purpose of this process is Natural Organic Matter (NOM) removal in order to reduce the production of disinfection by-products (THM/HAA5). The ACTIFLO® CARB process can improve TOC removal rates by as much as 50% when compared to clarification alone. Further benefits include low civil, installation and operational costs as well as a small footprint, and the capability of retrofitting into existing basins.
