2006 Emerson Global Users Exchange Conference Announced

May 17, 2006

Comprehensive user-driven conference focuses on application of Emerson enabling technologies and services Austin, TX — Plans are currently underway for the 2006 Emerson Global Users Exchange Conference to be held October 2nd – 6th at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The theme for the 2006 conference is Learn, Lead, Unleash – and will feature educational and leadership sessions for all levels of process manufacturing professionals. The annual conference is one of the industry's most comprehensive collections of user-driven presentations and workshops on technology selection and application, investment justification and automation strategy.

"The Emerson Exchange provides a unique opportunity to network with peers, to view and offer input about developing Emerson technologies, and to take away new knowledge, ideas and techniques to help maximize assets and increase profitability," says Scott Pendegrass, Control Systems Engineer for ExxonMobil and 2005 Chairman of the Emerson Global Users Exchange. "The conference continues to grow in value and attendance every year. 2005 was our largest and most successful to date with more management and international attendees, more workshops, more short courses and more positive feedback than ever before."

The 2005 Emerson Exchange drew a record attendance of 1,814 process manufacturing professionals from 46 countries. Led by users for users, the event provided valuable exchange of information among process manufacturers, end-users and Emerson experts. The extensive program included three keynote speakers, two management round tables, nine industry business forums, 253 workshops, 47 short courses, and over 40,000 square feet of technology exhibits.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive and congratulatory with participants describing the Emerson Exchange conference as "a very well spent week, full of opportunities to learn" and a "tremendous amount of information in one location…better for my personal use than a major trade show." One participant's comments reflect the goal of the Emerson Users Exchange—to provide "a good opportunity to see new products, learn how others approach projects and obstacles, and network."

"Throughout the conference, users discussed comprehensive automation strategies to take advantage of today's technologies and ensure the future viability of their plants," says Jim Cook, Degussa Corporation and incoming Emerson Exchange Chairman for 2006. "Attendees heard from industry leaders how Emerson's PlantWeb? digital plant technologies are providing breakthrough results for process manufacturers worldwide. They shared best practices, technical innovations, application successes and quantified results, and received valuable insight into new technology developments and directions."

The highlight of the 2005 Technology Exhibits area was a full range of industry specific solutions stations, plus advanced control, batch, asset optimization, remote automation, and Safety Instrumented System demonstrations. These fully functioning demos were networked across an expansive PlantWeb digital plant architecture installation. The exhibits served as a platform for users, Emerson automation solution experts, and third party suppliers to explore ways of advancing the industry's leading technology to the next level of value delivery, and to discuss long range goals for realizing the maximum benefit from asset optimization, modernized process automation, and enterprise information technology.

In addition to the annual conference, the Emerson Global Users Exchange coordinates and produces activities such as special interest group meetings, newsletters, and communications related to Emerson products and solutions. Members of the Emerson Exchange actively participate in product development and application discussions with Emerson's engineering and management staff, providing feedback at conferences and other meetings. Users Exchange participant comments, conference agendas, registration and other details are available at www.EmersonExchange.org.
