Erlangen, Germany — The Water Technologies division of Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) introduces the new Medica Pro range of compact, cost-effective water purifiers specifically designed to feed clinical analyzers.

The Medica Pro range of systems is designed to cover a wide choice of configurations, from small non-pressurized feeds to large loop or central in-house supplies, and to deliver up to four liters per minute of CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) type 1 water to single or multiple analyzers. Each system has a compact and convenient footprint, thanks to a unique integral reservoir that eliminates the need for a separate tank, pump and pre-treatment filter. In addition, the integral reservoir and reduced rinse-up time result in a simpler and easier installation.

Medica Pro systems are carefully designed to be extremely cost-effective. The combination of ion exchange resins in the deionization cartridge deliver long life and lower operating costs. Users have the option of adding a second cartridge to even further reduce the exchange frequency. Where feedwater contains high levels of dissolved CO2, a degassing E-cartridge can also be added.

Unlike the water generated from traditional single-pass systems, users can also confidently use the water from the Medica Pro systems for dilution of reference standards and immunoassays. Each system continuously re-circulates the water through a combination of ion exchange, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet (UV) photo-oxidation and ultra-microfiltration technologies to generate purified water with a total organic carbon (TOC) of less than 30 parts per billion (ppb), resistivity greater than 10 megohm-cm and a consistent bacterial specification of less than 1 colony-forming units per milliliter (CFU/ml).

To ensure compliance with data analysis and trending guidelines, MEDICA Pro systems have a unique Xport USB mass storage device that allows a wide range of validation and performance data to be easily downloaded and transferred to a PC for analysis. A user recognition key has been included to ensure a high level of security and to prevent accidental changes to validated set-up routines.

MEDICA® is an ELGA LabWater trademark and technology.
