Testimonial Letter: Springtown Water Authority
April 16, 2008

To Whom It May Concern,
Springtown Water Authority, established 1895 and located in Springfield Township, Bucks
County, is a small water system that currently services 214 customers. Our distribution system is
supplied by gravity from natural springs with a well serving as back-up for drought conditions.
With this authority under new supervision, and in the course of inspecting the system for proper operation, repairs, or upgrades, it became clear early on that our water meters were very old and in need of constant attention.
With replacement being the course of action, we aggressively pursued four water meter manufacturers for information. We came away most impressed with the Master Meter line of water meters. This line boasted a meter with no wires; a meter that we can be read from a car driving by (up to 1500 feet away); a meter that can help us conserve water and save our customers money through its leak detection feature, and a meter capable of profiling data up to 166 days with a day by day, or hour by hour sequence.
We voted to install fifty meters in an outlying area as a test. This particular area was the most difficult and time consuming area for the meter reader to work. These meters proved themselves immediately. We voted to install another fifty meters only to turn around and authorize all meters on our system for replacement.
With replacements complete, what took our meter reader twelve hours to do in all weather conditions is now being done in under thirty minutes from the comfort of his automobile. (It would not be inconceivable for our meter reader to complete his run in about fifteen minutes if allowed to move at his own pace. We are thankful there is a speed limit restriction within town!)
Of course, with the task of reading all the literature that accompanies new equipment, many questions needed to be answered. Bo McLean, from Exeter Supply Company, answered every question we had. He made himself available at all times during this process, often returning calls multiple times daily. He stepped us through all the features of these meters, ran reports for us, explained data, meeting with us on site in Springtown, and generally going above and beyond the call of duty. We have often seen him driving around the village, antenna on his car roof, checking operations or following up on suspicious data. While he states he was just passing through, I believe he is especially pleased at how efficiently the Master Meter water meters are working for our system. Our thanks to Bo for all of his expertise and time.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors, Springtown Water Authority
