ITT's New Flowtronex Packaged Pump System Features High-Efficiency Goulds SMVT Pump
October 12, 2009
ITT Corporation, a global leader in the movement and treatment of water and wastewater, announced a prefabricated pumping system that lowers energy costs and features a heavy-duty vertical turbine pump.
The new ITT Flowtronex system is equipped with the ITT Goulds Pumps surface-mounted, multi-stage vertical turbine pump (SMVT). The Model SMVT pump operates at up to 80 percent efficiency, and the system comes standard with variable frequency drives and control software that save customers 30 to 70 percent in energy costs compared to fixed-speed pumps.
The packaged product is ideal for municipal utility districts, rural water systems, agriculture and irrigation systems. In water systems it is used for raw water pumping, potable water booster and transfer systems, plant water systems and domestic booster systems. Wastewater applications include treated effluent pumping, plant water systems and seal water systems. ITT announced the new system at WEFTEC.
"The addition of the ITT Goulds Pumps Model SMVT to an industry-leading package platform reflects our commitment to driving innovation in the pump industry," said ITT Flowtronex Package Systems Applications Manager John Edwards. "By combining this high-efficiency workhorse of a pump with the unrivaled quality of an ITT Flowtronex system, we are giving customers a new pumping option of exceptionally high quality, with an exceptionally low total cost of ownership."
The ITT Flowtronex system is designed to pump flows ranging from 100 to 8,500 gallons per minute, with a total discharge head of up to 880 feet. The Model SMVT pump's heavy turbine design and hydraulics suit the pump to applications needing an extremely robust pump. Cast iron bowls fitted with stainless steel impellers are standard. The SMVT can be assembled and disassembled using a standard wrench, because a flanged casing design eliminates the need for special tools. Users can unbolt the flanged casing from the suction/discharge pump body, allowing field service without disturbing system piping.
The ITT Flowtronex system with Model SMVT helps customers realize numerous other benefits:
- Small footprint to solve space limitations in tight areas.
- Reduced integration cost because it is pre-configured for a SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition – interface.
- Flexible integration because it can incorporate up to 10 pumps in a multi-pump system.
- Scalable control panel with an interface that supports communication across different types of networks.
- Support available 24/7 with the FlowNet global service network.
The packaged system comes complete with an ITT Goulds Pumps Model SMVT, structural base, suction and discharge piping, isolation valves, check valves, a discharge pressure transmitter, and an inlet pressure pump protective device. The controls are also standard, including an N4 enclosure with fused disconnect, variable frequency drives, touch-screen programmable logic controller, surge arrestor and phase monitor.
The ITT Flowtronex packaged pumping system with Model SMVT will be available to customers in 2010. For more information, visit www.flowtronex.com.
