ITT Introduces High-Efficiency Reverse Osmosis Pump
October 12, 2009
Managers of desalination systems can reduce energy and maintenance costs using the new ITT Goulds Model 3393 reverse osmosis high-pressure pump with onboard condition monitoring.
ITT Corporation, a global leader in the movement and treatment of water and wastewater, introduced the new ITT Goulds pump at WEFTEC.
The high-pressure feed pump is an integral part of the reverse osmosis process used to generate potable water from saltwater. The new ITT Goulds high-pressure ring section pump is capable of delivering 150 to 3,100 gallons per minute of feed water (34 m3/hr to 700 m3/hr) depending on the size. The Model 3393 comes standard with i-ALERT™, an on-board monitoring device that constantly measures vibration and temperature, which provides a visual warning of potential operational issues.
"We help our customers achieve a low total cost of ownership with pumps that are reliable, easy to maintain, and efficient," Lisa Fitzgerald, Global Marketing Manager said. "The Model 3393 not only meets but exceeds these goals. It is a cost-effective option for most reverse osmosis systems."
Benefits of the Model 3393 include:
- Decreased power consumption and low total cost of ownership with high-efficiency hydraulic design. Standard casing rings provide an easily replaceable wear surface to restore original efficiencies. Impellers can be machined for impeller rings to extend the useful operating life of the pump.
- Simplified maintenance and inspection because the involute balance drum is accessible and removable from the discharge side of the pump. To further aid disassembly, puller holes are provided in the major components.
- Easy assembly and reduced inventory requirements because the integrated diffuser and stagepiece is cast as a single component, rather than as two separate pieces.
- Flexibility in plant layout resulting from multiple suction and discharge nozzle orientations. Stuffing box designs support a wide range of mechanical seals and piping plans.
ITT Goulds backs all of its products with a global network of service and support. "We are ready to help with maintenance or product support at any time," Ms. Fitzgerald said. "Our goal is to make the customer's experience with ITT Goulds Pumps as positive as possible."
The ITT Goulds Pumps Model 3393 RO pump will be available in sizes ranging from 2.5- to 6-inch discharge. To learn more, go to www.gouldspumps.com.
