Switching to an alternative chlorination method using calcium hypochlorite has provided the Village of Hebron, IL, with a highly reliable system that accurately and safely delivers chlorine to its drinking water supply.
Operating a gaseous chlorine system at the well located in a public park proved troublesome, according to Tom Shrewsbury, Operator of Hebron Water Utility.
"After seeing the system in operation...I came away from there with the feeling that this was a very viable alternative source of chlorination for us," Shrewsbury recalls.
