Amiad Completes Commissioning And Testing Of Angola's First "Combined-Use" Water Treatment Facility

March 18, 2010

Amiad Filtration Systems, a global provider of innovative water filtration technologies, announced recently it has completed the testing and commissioning phase for the water treatment facility it recently installed in Waku Kungo, Angola. The facility is the first combined-use water treatment plant in Africa.

The water treatment plant will filter the city's main water supply, the Kave River, providing 50,000 inhabitants, as well as the residents of 15 surrounding villages, with potable water for household needs as well as for agricultural and industrial use.

The $500,000 USD system features Amiad's Automatic self cleaning filter fine-micron screens. When operating at full capacity, the facility will have a flow rate of 900 meters/3 per hour. The project was ordered by the LR Group, an Israeli company developing the agricultural-industrial Aldeia Nova (New Village) project in Waku Kungo. The LR Group is planning construction of nine additional projects in the region.

"We are proud that our system was chosen for this special project and we are honored to provide citizens of Waku Kungo with clean, filtered water for the first time," said Arik Dayan, CEO of Amiad Filtration Systems. "We look forward to working with the LR Group in implementing additional filtration projects in Angola and villages across Africa."

"Amiad is a dynamic company that has an outstanding track record of success in implementing challenging projects around the world, making them a perfect partner for our ambitious Aldeia Nova project, said XX of the LR Group. "Additionally, Amiad's solutions proved to be the most flexible available to support the evolving needs of this special project, providing us the tools we need to maximize efficiency while preserving quality."
