ACPA Names New Chairman, Officers for Fiscal 2000

Adrian Driver, president of CSR Hydro Conduit Corporation, has been named the new chairman of the board of the American Concrete Pipe Association. CSR Hydro Conduit is a division of CSR America, Inc., an international construction and building materials company. Driver assumed the fiscal 2000 chairmanship at ACPA's 92nd annual convention in San Antonio, Tex., March 12-14, 2000. Three other officers were also appointed at the meeting:

  • Tom Walters, Carder Concrete Products Company, Littleton, Colo. (vice chairman of the board)
  • James A. (Jim) Aumann, American Concrete Products Company, Green Bay, Wis. (treasurer)
  • Ray Rhees, Oldcastle/Amcor Precast, Littleton, Colo. (secretary) Driver succeeds Larry Johnson, president of Johnson-Bateman Company, an Ontario, Calif.-based manufacturer of precast concrete pipe products, as the chairman of the 93-year old Association. As president of the Pipe and Concrete Products Division of CSR America Inc., Driver heads the largest precast concrete pipe manufacturer in the U.S. CSR America Inc. is headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida.

    In discussing his goals as ACPA's new chairman, Driver said he will focus on growing the available "pie" for precast concrete pipe products as well as increasing the size of the market. "We would like to see the actual pie get larger, whereby concrete pipe producers expand into new market sectors in which they haven't been active," Driver said. >P? Driver also cited ACPA's strategic plan which includes their new plant certification program, technical and marketing programs and updated resource materials that will help ACPA members "get in front of engineers and present them with pertinent information and balanced facts about our products."

    In addition to its Pipe and Concrete Products Division, CSR Hydro Conduit also has a pipe rehabilitation business and plastic pipe operation serving the industrial, mining, telecommunications, water and gas transmission industries. CSR is also a major producer of prestressed beams and concrete building components. Other CSR America divisions include a Quarries and Cement Division (Florida and Georgia); a concrete and block Materials Division (Florida); a quarries, concrete and block business in Las Vegas; a quarries, concrete and asphalt business in the Pacific Northwest; and a building materials distribution business and subsidiaries in the southern states.

    Driver has been a member of the ACPA's board of directors since 1996 and has served on the Association's executive committee the past three years as secretary, treasurer, and most recently, as vice chairman of the board. Driver and his wife, Bromwyn, reside in the West Palm Beach, Florida area.
